ROECK ARCHITECTS

ÖBB was and is a reliable partner of the state of Tyrol when it comes to relieving the sensitive Alpine region of transit traffic. An essential element for a quick, efficient but above all environmentally friendly transfer is the rolling road (ROLA). ROECK Architekten was therefore commissioned to present and implement a design for a new loading terminal in Wörgl.

The trucks are loaded from the road to the train in the direction of Italy at the handling terminal on the Rollede Landstrasse. This results in a large logistical effort. The vehicles are diverted from the motorway, bundled into three lanes for processing, are released and weighed under the flying roof, and parked in an interim parking lot. In a predetermined cycle, the trucks are driven onto the rails and secured. The building and an architecturally appealing fair-faced concrete wall to the rails form the support points for the roof.
