6020 INNSBRUCK

ROECK ARCHITECTS

The two-storey bright cube stands alone in the wooded area of the Tyrolean municipality of Sautens. As soon as you drive up to the house, the viewer is made aware of the building's monolithic-looking sculptural structure. The basic idea was to arrange two mutually twisted and intersecting cubes in such a way that an overall unity is created. In the lower cube are the dressing room, storage rooms, a bathroom and anyway three sleeping possibilities with direct access to the garden.

The upper cube with the kitchen and the living rooms protrudes far and forms a protective roof for people and cars on the street and garden side. Due to its altitude and the right-angled twisting, it offers a wonderful panoramic view of the natural pine forests of the Ötztal.

Inside, the clear exposed concrete walls made of rough-sawn boards contrast with the white epoxy floors and the local oak wood.
